HealthTech Regulatory and Innovation Programme

You could be eligible for up to £30,000 of funding to help progress your new or existing HealthTech product through regulatory pathways.

Product Design Companies

On behalf of Innovate UK, CPI and ABHI have launched the Health Technology Regulatory and Innovation Programme.

We’re leading a £7m programme to support HealthTech SMEs (including MedTech and diagnostics companies) to navigate the complex regulatory processes for developing and commercialising new and existing HealthTech products.

From 14th February, you can apply for funding of up to £30,000 to be used with UK, European, or global regulatory affairs providers. We’ll support activities related to gaining regulatory approval for new products or help existing products continue to meet new regulatory requirements.

UK SMEs expected to receive funding

We know that SMEs in HealthTech often lack the internal resources and knowledge to navigate a regulatory landscape that is complex and ever-changing. The funding will support you to access outside expertise to better understand and address these requirements and move successfully towards commercialisation.

Funding is aimed at SMEs developing or offering products in the medical device and diagnostics (including IVD) area. Although pharma products are not considered under this guidance, combination medical products such as drug delivery devices would be eligible.

The regulatory affairs support that can be funded through the programme covers a broad range of activities that influence and guide healthcare technology product development, such as global submission support and preparation, technical road mapping, and guidance on regulatory standards.

Applications close on 31st May 2022 and will be reviewed on a weekly basis, with funding offered on a first-come, first-served basis, if the minimum threshold criteria are met. We would encourage you to apply as soon as you can.

We’re also creating a free programme of educational resources covering the regulatory process. Follow us on social media to be the first to know when these are available.

“We’re delighted to be working with ABHI and Innovate UK to offer financial support and a programme of education to small businesses who are ready to commercialise innovative health technologies of the future.”
